Revisión sobre el acoso con relación al peso: mecanismos e impacto psicosocial en la infancia y adolescencia

Resumen:
En este estudio se revisan las particularidades del acoso con relación al peso, sus mecanismos subyacentes y su impacto a nivel psicosocial. Concretamente, se aborda el rol del estigma hacia la obesidad, los principales agentes de transmisión y los factores asociados a un mayor riesgo de victimización, como la presencia de obesidad severa o el género femenino. Este tipo de acoso es común en la etapa infanto-juvenil y se asocia con la presencia de sintomatología psicológica, conducta alimentaria alterada y dificultades a nivel social y académico. Todo ello justifica la importancia de desarrollar estrategias de prevención universales, así como medidas individualizadas de atención a los colectivos más vulnerables, tanto desde el ámbito educativo como el de la salud.
